Black Lash Extensions — Understanding What to Order and Why

Choosing the right black lash extensions is less about brand and more about getting three parameters right: curl, thickness and format. When those three align with the client's natural lash growth direction, eye shape and the look they want, the result is a set that holds well and looks right from the first appointment.

The Curl Logic

The curl is the most influential parameter for the final result. B curl is the subtlest — a gentle lift that reads as natural on almost all clients and works well for those who want a barely-there change. C curl is the industry workhorse: defined enough to be clearly visible, natural enough for daily wear. It suits the widest range of clients and eye shapes. D curlcreates a dramatic, wide-open eye effect — noticeably lifted when viewed straight on, preferred for clients who want clear impact.

L and M curls solve a specific problem: clients whose natural lashes grow straight upward or downward. In these cases, C and D curls often fail to bond properly along the full length of the natural lash. L and M curls have a straight base that sits flush with the lid, then kick up at the tip — giving lift without fighting the natural growth direction. LC and LDextend this principle with a longer shank before the curve.

V curl has a tighter, sharper bend than D — reserved for specific aesthetic techniques rather than everyday sets.

Thickness Guides

At 0.05 and 0.07 mm, lashes are built for volume work: these diameters are used to handcraft or pick up pre-made fans for Russian volume, mega-volume and nano techniques. 0.10 mm sits at the boundary between volume and classic — useful for hybrid sets and light volume. 0.12 and 0.15 mm are the core classic diameters, and 0.20 mm is a feature thickness for accent placement on particularly thick natural lashes.

Individual or Mix?

Individual-length trays give complete mapping control — each zone of the lash line gets exactly the length specified. Mix trays (typically spanning 6–14 mm or 8–14 mm) trade precision for speed and a naturally varied result: they are better suited for infills, natural-look full sets and faster sessions where lash mapping is relaxed.
