Donda PMU Reach is a line of hybrid pigments for eyebrows and lips in which REACH certification is not a marketing label but a specific EU legal standard: compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, which restricts over 4,000 substances in tattoo and PMU pigments.

Donda PMU Reach — The 10 ml Advantage and What REACH Actually Requires

To protect European citizens, thousands of hazardous chemicals found in tattoo inks and permanent make-up are restricted in the EU under the REACH Regulation from January 2022. The restriction covers chemicals that cause cancer or genetic mutations, chemicals toxic to reproduction, as well as skin sensitisers and irritants. The aim is to make colours used in tattoos and permanent make-up safer and to reduce chronic allergic reactions and inflammatory skin reactions. It's important to note that REACH compliance is a legal obligation — not an optional quality mark — for PMU pigments sold in the EU and EEA from 4 January 2022.

This means that a specialist working with REACH-compliant pigments works with formulas from which substances identified as hazardous based on current scientific evidence have been excluded.

The 10 ml Format as a Practical Distinction

All pigments in this line come in 10 ml — larger than the 5–6 ml standard across most PMU brands. In practice, this looks like: fewer reorders for frequently used shades, a lower per-ml cost, and reduced risk of running out of a core working colour mid-season. It's important to note that the larger format is only advantageous for shades used regularly — for rarely used tones, a smaller bottle is more practical to avoid extended post-opening periods.

Two Naming Systems, Two Different Logics

Eyebrow pigments are named after geographic regions: Mediterranian, Oceanian, Nordic, European, Atlantide. This logic implies different climatic and phenotypic characteristics associated with eyebrow colouring across different parts of the world — from warmer, olive-inflected Mediterranean tones to the cooler, ash-leaning Nordic range.

Lip pigments are named after female archetypes: Marylin, Madame, Kim, Geisha, Barbie. This naming implies different aesthetic and tonal characters — from delicate nude to bold saturated.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does REACH compliance mean in practice?

It means the pigment is formulated without the substances restricted under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 — over 4,000 chemicals, primarily metals, methanol, some azo dyes, carcinogenic aromatic amines, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). It's important to note that REACH compliance is declared by the manufacturer — independent laboratory verification is a separate step not mandatory for every product.

Are PMU pigments required to be REACH-compliant in the EU?

Yes — from 4 January 2022, PMU pigments must comply with REACH restrictions throughout the EU and EEA. Using non-compliant products constitutes a violation of European legislation.

Why is only one base temperature specified in the catalogue filter?

The base temperature of most shades in this line is not categorised in the store system. For specific tonal characteristics of individual shades, we recommend contacting us directly.
